THE KAMBO PROCESS

Kambo is a sacred ally in physical, emotional, and energetic purification. Each ceremony is held in a safe and supportive space, allowing the medicine to meet you exactly where you are.

Cleanse & Intention

We begin with gentle grounding, an opening ceremony, and space to share your intention. You’ll drink around 1.5 litres of water to support the energetic and physical clearing ahead.


This is a time to center yourself, calm the nervous system, and invite the medicine to work in harmony with your body, mind, and spirit.

Medicine Application

The medicine is applied through small superficial burns called “gates,” which allow it to enter the lymphatic system. If it’s your first time or more than 6 months since your last session, we’ll start with a single assessment point.


Common sensations may include warmth, increased heart rate, tingling, nausea, emotional shifts, and purging. These are natural responses as the body clears what it’s ready to release.

Integration

Following the purge, you’ll be guided into a space of rest and reflection. We’ll treat the gates with Dragon’s Blood, a natural antiseptic, and close with tea, light nourishment, and a circle of gratitude.


Kambo’s effects continue to unfold in the days after. Integration is supported with grounding practices, clean nourishment, and gentle care for body and spirit.

Kambo is a potent and sacred medicine that must be approached with care and respect. While it is safe for most healthy individuals, there are certain conditions in which Kambo should not be administered.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

Kambo is not suitable for individuals with;

Serious heart conditions, including a history of heart surgery

Stroke, blood clots, aneurysms, or brain hemorrhage

Pregnancy, trying to conceive, or currently breastfeeding

Use of prescription medications for low blood pressure

Severe epilepsy

Undergoing chemotherapy or radiation (within the past 4 months)

Recovery from major surgery

Organ transplant recipients taking immune suppressants

Addison’s Disease

Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome

History of serious psychological disorders (excluding anxiety, depression, PTSD)

Individuals under the age of 18

Inability to give informed consent for Kambo treatment

Extended fasting or low electrolyte levels

Recent colonics, enemas, liver flushes, or water-based detoxes

(avoid 3 days before and after Kambo)

Use of Bufo Alvarius (toad medicine) in the past 28 days

Active drug or alcohol addiction

The Legend of Kambo

A Kaxinawá legend is told that the Indians of the tribe were very ill and their Pajé (medicine man), Kampu, had done everything that was possible to cure them. All medicinal herbs known were used, but none helped. Under the effect of sacred plant medicines, he entered the forest and whilst there received a visit from the Grandmother. She brought in her hands a frog, from which she took the secretion, and taught the Pajé how to apply it. Returning to the tribe and following the guidelines he received the Pajé cured his tribe. From then on he was known as Pajé Kampu. After his death, his spirit lived on in the frog where it continued its mission to protect the health of those who defend the forest. The Indians continue to use its secretion to stay active and healthy. The secretion became known as Kambo but in some tribes it is called Sapo, Kampu or Vacina de Floresta. It’s usage spread and it is still used widely amongst indigenous people in the Amazon to this day although the rituals vary from tribe to tribe.
